The reason I joined Net Impact Austin’s professional chapter was because it offered a venue to deliver real change. A lot of us have been reading about issues we are facing with great concern: climate change, energy inefficiency, misuse of our resources, and disparity in our standard of living, amongst other social and environmental ills. Many of us, as I am, are baffled by our society’s reluctance to quickly adopt remedies to these ailments. But the challenge is actually smaller than it sounds.

One of my goals is to illustrate how easy this change is. We have all read about how dire things may be, but are frequently left without real world actionable ways to solve it. But in our daily lives, many of us are working on solutions. From reusing and recycling to developing new technologies for sustainable living, we are . As a chairperson of Net Impact Austin, I want to help illustrate how we all can make a difference in our daily lives. I want to help start the conversation about what more we can be doing, and how we can easily persuade others to do the same.

But this isn’t about me or you; it’s for the greater good. Are there issues you are concerned about and want to help find a solution? What are the challenges we can face with real world solutions, and what are the challengers we face that have no easy answer? Though we are looking to change the world through business, an opportunity to do so occupy our every day lives.
