Sarah Cooke, a Dell employee, was a passive member of Net Impact for years, having first found the organization online while seeking career resources focused on opportunities for meaningful employment. Her future as Founder of Net Impact Austin did not materialize until, after several calls from Net Impact-Central, she agreed to attend the Net Impact National Conference. Attendance at this conference was a pivotal moment for Sarah; it was the moment that she realized that there were hundreds, even thousands, of people who – just like her – believe that sustainable work systems are about more than just money.

Sarah describes her passion as “the intersection between environmental design, emerging technology, motivation theories, and social sustainability” with the goal of “restoring humanity to the experience of work”. In her role at Dell, she does just that by reducing environmental impact and improving employee culture through flexible work policies and technologies. Externally, she speaks nationally on social intrapreneurship, building an innovation culture, globalized collaboration, and other related topics.

Reflecting on the first Leadership Team election process which is currently underway (Read More), Sarah shares that the most personally meaningful result of her involvement with Net Impact has been “relationships – the opportunity to contribute significantly to the career development of amazing people, and to learn from them as well. Many of my closest friends and current mentors are people I didn’t know before starting Net Impact Austin. Being a member of the Chapter Leadership Team will broaden your network and, potentially, change your life – it is an opportunity not to be missed!”
