Tweet Your Eco-Pic; Win $1,000 for NGO of Your Choice!

Dell, Twitter, and Mother Nature Network have partnered for an eco-themed photo contest!  They will give $1,000 to the most retweeted photo depicting what you are doing to combat climate change.  If your photo gets the most retweets by June 22nd, you pick who gets the cash (and I won't be upset if you pick Net Impact Austin!).

All this hoopla is in honor of World Environment Day which was June 5th. World Environment Day was founded by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 as a means to spur conversation and debate across governments and cultures around the social, economic and political problems of our global environment. While this day wasn't originally made for us, I love that these organizations have united to engage concerned citizens in a playful contest.  ...get your tweeps ready to re-tweet!

The Regeneration blog describes the contest:

Every World Environment Day there is a theme, and this year's is 'Your Planet Needs You - UNite to Combat Climate Change.' In the spirit of this idea, Dell, Twitter and the Mother Nature Network have gotten together to host an eco-themed photo contest to get your pics of what you are doing to combat climate change. This is intentionally a broad category because, without a doubt, we are go ing to receive some cool ideas that we never even considered! . Are yo u encouraging recycling in the workplace? Are you running your errands by bicycle? Are you an alternative-energy pioneer? Have you found a creative way to bring awareness to an environmental issue? If so, we want your pics!

Entering is easy. Simply post your photo on Flickr or another photo sharing site, shorten the URL, and Tweet it. Be sure to address your Tweet to @Dell_WED so we get it (and add the #Dell_WED hastag). You can also send it directly to us via Twitpic. The contest will last until June 22nd. Submissions will also be posted in a gallery on Mother Nature Network and shared on Dell's Facebook page. Five finalists will be whittled from the fray based on the number of retweets their photos receive, and from there the winner will be chosen at random from those five.

The winner will have $1,000 donated to the NGO of their choice. Full contest rules can be found here.

GOOD LUCK!
