Chicas Verdes Luncheon

Net Impact Austin's picture

Chicas Verdes provides an opportunity for green-minded ladies in Austin to meets for lunch on the first Tuesday of each month. Feel free to invite your friends, but please RSVP at least one day before there will be enough seats!

This April luncheon will be held at a new restaurant, House Pizzeria, that promotes three community-oriented goals:

  • Affordable, healthy, fresh food.  They make nearly everything in house with simple, fresh ingredients.  No high fructose corn syrup!
  • Support the local economy.  They work with local providers such as: Green Gate Farms, Maine Root, Live Oak Brewery, and Becker Vineyards, to celebrate the local flavor of Central Texas. They look forward to forging new friendships too.
  • Zero Waste. They use just one household city bin weekly to dispose of its trash.  Everything else is recycled, composted, used as a soil amendment, or fed to the happy pigs at Green Gate Farms.  We plan to weigh the trash bin weekly and continue to re-think trash.
House Pizzeria is powered by Austin Energy Green Choice, is working with Austin Energy Green Building for a Commercial Green Building Rating, and is thoughtfully designed throughout. For example, they incorporated operable windows that promote cross ventilation, low flow and flush fixtures to conserve water, and salvaged maple gym floor for use throughout the restaurant.

Check it out, either with Chicas or on your own!
