Everyone has a dream with the power to change the world. What's yours? Join nonprofit, business and foundation leaders for a unique discussion of social entrepreneurship and a preview of the best world-changing ideas emerging from colleges around the world. Come for the discussion and then participate in the final round of the 2009 Dell Social Innovation Competition where you can help decide the winner and take home Dell prizes!
Social Entrepreneurship Roundtable
This year, our distinguished competition judges are in the hot seat. Dr. Peter Frumkin, Director of the RGK Center, moderates a roundtable discussion with our judges as they predict the latest trends in social entrepreneurship and give tips on how to bring successful ideas to scale.
The Social-E Roundtable includes:
Tom Meredith, CEO, MFI Capital, founding sponsor of the Social Innovation Competition
Lee Walker, Chairman, Community Investments
Suzi Sosa, President and Founder, MPower Foundation
Carmen Tawil, Managing Partner, Corridor Television LLP
Deborah Bauer, Senior Manager, Dell Giving
$50,000 Award Pitch-off
After we learn about social entrepreneurship – see it in action. Each of our final three competitors give an elevator pitch of their idea to change the world. More than 1,000 students from 33 countries in 250 universities worldwide submitted their insightful ideas to solve some of the world’s most pressing social problems. One hundred teams were invited to write venture plans detailing their innovation. Our Judge's Circle evaluated the plans and selected three finalist teams to come to Austin and compete for the grand prize of $50,000 in seed funding.
You be the judge & win a new Dell laptop
Cheer on the contestants, check out the latest social innovations, and be inspired! Each team will pitch their innovation to you and the judges. You decide the winner! A special People's Choice Award puts the power in your hands to give one team $1,000 to support their venture. Each vote cast at the event for the People’s Choice is automatically entered into a drawing for new Dell laptops.
