Net Impact Austin's picture

Net Impact Austin presents a site tour of Advanced Micro Device’s  Gold LEED Certified facility. AMD’s facility is located on 58 acres off of Southwest Parkway. The 870,000-square-foot facility is home to business operations and design engineering. This unique office campus uses renewable energy, rainwater collection, recycled construction.

According to AMD, this is the largest Gold Certified LEED commercial site in Texas. “The site development plan for the 58-acre, 870,000 square foot campus was based on three key tenets: limit site impact, protect water quality, and use innovative sustainable design." The tour will be led by Vince Mcglone, Environmental Engineer at AMD.

Following the tour, Net Impact Austin’s own Effie Brunson will conduct a presentation and discussion on the principals behind LEED building design as well as their business and environmental benefits.  Beverages and snacks will be provided.

About Effie: Effie received her LEED accreditation in 2003, three years into her tenure at Starbucks. She was a member of the ‘green team’ that led the efforts to analyze and reduce the overall footprint of Starbucks stores worldwide. She has 5 years experience managing architectural projects, including working with local jurisdictions to secure commercial building permits and construction administration. She formed Rays of Hope Austin because she saw a need for an organization that could benefit under-served communities as well as expand solar opportunities in Central Texas
