Discussion Topic: California State Parks Foundation staff will discuss the process of moving their 40 year organization into a new green office space. Their offices are designed to the Gold LEED level. They will share tales and tips from space selection, through the design and construction process to move in!
About the Speakers:
Elizabeth Goldstein is the President of the California State Parks Foundation. The California State Parks Foundation has 100,000 members and is the only statewide organization dedicated to the preservation, enhancement and protection of California’s magnificent state park system. Prior to joining the Foundation, she was general manager of the City and County of San Francisco’s Recreation and Park Department. While overseeing that department, Elizabeth initiated a $400 million capital campaign that oversaw such projects as the rehabilitation of the Conservatory of Flowers, Harding Golf Course and neighborhood parks throughout the system. After arriving in San Francisco in 1994, she served as director of the western office of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, she managed the National Trust programs in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington, as well as the U. S. territories of Guam and Micronesia. Elizabeth also served as regional director of the New York City region of the State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, and as director of planning for the City of New York’s Department of Parks and Recreation.
Michael Bankert joined the Foundation’s staff as Controller in October 1998, and was elected to vice president in October 2002. Prior to moving to California, he spent more than eight years as the Comptroller and Director of Finance and Administration of the Baltimore Community Foundation. His career also included positions at Deloitte & Touche, LLP and T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc. Michael attended Towson University and successfully passed the CPA examination on his first attempt. He earned a Masters of Nonprofit Administration degree from the University of San Francisco in August 2003. He has served on a number of nonprofit boards in Baltimore and San Francisco and is active in community groups.
