Speaker: Julie Engel Manga, Ph.D, Executive Coach/Consultant, Synchrony Coaching & Consulting
Discussion Topic:
When we hear the word “meeting”, many, if not most, people roll their eyes. This is because most of us have the prevailing experience that work doesn't really happen in meetings. At their worst, we experience meetings as an interruption of “real” work. What if our meetings, indeed, what if each conversation we have with another at work was experienced as powerfully moving our work along?
On this call, Julie will introduce participants to a new understanding of language that supports individuals and organizations in taking more effective action. Central to this understanding is that an organization is a “network of conversations.” Participants learn the basic moves that help them mitigate unnecessary break- downs, deal with breakdowns more effectively when they do happen, more consistently and effectively coordinate action and generate innovation, and avoid much of the mischief rampant in organizational life that breeds ineffectiveness and reduces individuals' experience of well-being.
Through participating on this call participants:
- are introduced to a new understanding of organizations as a network of conversations
- are introduced to a new understanding of language that enables them to engage in more powerful conversations
- gain insight into the sources of common breakdowns they experience at work and how to resolve them
- will leave the call with some ideas for practicing these new understandings on actual issues they are encountering in their current work situation.
