Emo’s Alternative Lounge is a historic venue with a colorful background – an icon in the national punk and alternative music scene. In early 2009, Emo’s engaged Net Impact Austin to explore the possibility of becoming a sustainability leader within their industry.
Due to the large scope of opportunity, it is recommended that Emo's explore their interest in sustainability by project by project, solution development and execution plans developed for each stage.

Emo's "greening" project, future SXSW
Austin Texas during a typical SXSW week has had the feel of some party-cum-riot setting come close of a day. This (Emo's project) would be a fair "start" of sorts, hopefully one that can influence the sometimes sad situation with the "youth" music culture and industry, commonly and traditionally of some high destructive energy readily manifested and displayed with "unconciousness supreme", high arrogance, et al. It may be "fun" on some level, but....
(Creative) planning in particular for the next SXSW with others of the community (business included) will be an opportunity to influence a better experience for such events in the near future. I am seeking out business associates to do something now. It's a lot of work so be serious and prepared to invest yourself (funds optional). In person discussions twice a month to be announced (limited details via email). This will effectively serve the community on more than one level, including a play into the new "zero waste" ideal recently announced by the city. Write ecoecho@juno.com (note SX10 in subject)
